Thomas H. Murphy

Experienced Trial Attorney

Thomas H. Murphy joined Cogan & Power as a partner in July 2014 after working at another local plaintiffs’ personal injury law firm. Since 2003, Tom has represented victims of negligence and medical malpractice, recovering over $70 million in verdicts and settlements for his clients.

Prior to becoming a personal injury lawyer, Tom was a civil defense lawyer representing hospitals and physicians in medical malpractice cases. While a medical malpractice defense lawyer, Tom learned defense strategies and developed an invaluable skill set that has helped him achieve numerous multi-million dollar results for his clients as a plaintiffs’ lawyer. Tom received his law degree from John Marshall Law School, cum laude, in 1997 and obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona.

Tom sits on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of Marist High School in Chicago and the Board of Directors of John Burns Construction Company.
